elementor-size-default\">Leadership<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c2ed81f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c2ed81f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Jesus Christ is the Head of His church which includes this local church.\u00a0 Pastor-Elders in a local church are the biblical offices spoken of when referring to church leadership.\u00a0 Pastor-Elders lead this church in submission to Him and each other.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-58675f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"58675f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Elders<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0d9621c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0d9621c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Redemption Valley Church is not a democracy but led by men appointed and recognized with the gift of and grace for leadership.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">(See <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnpcb.org\/esv\/search\/?q=Eph.+4%3A1-3\"><span class=\"s1\">Eph. 4:1-3<\/span><\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnpcb.org\/esv\/search\/?q=Heb.+13%3A7%2C+17\"><span class=\"s1\">Heb. 13:7, 17<\/span><\/a>).<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Scripture uses three words interchangeably to refer to function of one and the same person:<\/p><ol class=\"ol1\"><li class=\"li1\">\u201cPresbuteros\u201d \u2013 Elder (executes God\u2019s justice and government and administrates the affairs of the church.<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cEpiscopos\u201d \u2013 Overseer or bishop (oversees, a guardian, gatekeeper or watchman).<\/li><li class=\"li1\">\u201cPoimain\u201d \u2013 Shepherd or pastor (shepherd the flock, nurture and care for the flock, feed the flock).<\/li><\/ol><p class=\"p1\">(See\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.esvbible.org\/Acts+20%3A17%3BActs+20%3A28\/\"><span class=\"s1\">Acts 20:17, 28<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnpcb.org\/esv\/search\/?q=Titus+1%3A5%2C+7\"><span class=\"s1\">Titus 1:5,7<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnpcb.org\/esv\/search\/?q=1+Peter+2%3A25%2C+5%3A1-2\"><span class=\"s1\">1 Peter 2:25, 5:1-2<\/span><\/a>)<\/p><p class=\"p1\">Elders oversee every aspect of church life, are mutually accountable and are led by a visionary or lead elder.\u00a0 We place a high value on the team dynamics of our leadership.<\/p><p class=\"p1\">As a church plant we are under an advisory group until we appoint the elders necessary to spiritually lead this church.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d0e7ff0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d0e7ff0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Deacons<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4857d52 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4857d52\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">This is the only other office mentioned in the scriptures in the local church.\u00a0 The Greek word for deacon is \u201cdiakonis\u201d and means \u201cservant, and who ministers alongside, \u2018helper.\u201d\u2019\u00a0 This does not mean that our deacons are servants and do menial jobs.\u00a0 Everyone in the church should have a servant heart.\u00a0 What it does mean though, is that the deacons come alongside the elders, assisting them in the pastoring of the church, releasing the pastors and elders \u201cto prayer and ministry of the Word.\u201d (Acts 6:1-8)\u00a0 Our deacons, together with and under the oversight of elders, exercise oversight in home groups and other care groups.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8844482 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"8844482\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Accountability<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a78b71 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4a78b71\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"p1\">Redemption Valley Church practices congregational government. The congregation decides together on the important issues that affect the future of the church. The congregation affirms the appointing of elders. As an eldership team we hold a value of plurality and consensus on decisions of doctrine, direction and discipline.
