Wondering where your pastor is this week? He is at the EFCA One Conference in Des Moines, IA with over 1600 of his new best friends representing almost 300 Churches. If you aren’t familiar with the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) it is an association of interdependent churches that agree on a 10 point doctrinal statement – unity in the essentials, freedom in the non-essential, Christ in everything. The movement of the EFCA is missional in its focus, we attended training on discipleship and engaging the world in evangelism.
As we sit in the concourse waiting on our return flight to Denver one phrase and four words stand out from our time at the conference: “People of the book” was the recurring phrase. “Bible” would be one the stand out word. As other gatherings of pastors happen around the country, I was so encouraged by the firm commitment to the word of God. As you read this you may wonder about the other three stand out words from the conference. Come Sunday and I will be giving a brief recap or ask either Leda or me and we would be glad to tell you.
